"This is a preliminary review just unpacking, I did not have a chance to install yet. To enable the smart features on this, I need the Tapo app. I already have the Google Home, the TP-link Kasa and the Alexa apps. I would prefer having fewer apps and cross compatibility. Currently TP-link has two independent product lines, Kasa and Tapo. They are in need of separate apps, and they do not communicate with each other. Not a big issue here as my Kasa smart plugs do not need to communicate with the smart switch. They both communicate with external network over wifi, so I can control them while on or off the home network. I could not identify any issues yet, the switch is well designed."

Just like Kasa but better. Future proof with Matter!

"All the light switches in my house are kasa smart switches. And I have 12 kasa smart plugs. Tapo is made by kasa too but the only difference is that it's Matter compatible. That means it works with Apple Homekit as well. Setup was easy and it works well. I integrated this with Alexa and Google home with no issues. Now I can use my voice. For the dimmer to work properly, make sure you have dimmer compatible LED bulbs else it'll flicker. All in all, very nice. I'm slowly replacing everything kasa to Tapo since it had Matter and is future proof!"

Smart and Convenient Lighting Solution

"These Tapo smart light switches are one of the easiest ways to get a smart lighting setup. They're reasonably priced, they're the same or easier to install than a traditional switch thanks to the pre-wired ground and neutral leads, and setting them up in the Tapo app is straightforward. The TP-Link Tapo and Kasa systems are both something I would be happy to install in any home, even if the occupants are not very tech-savvy. Interestingly, this switch appears to be identical to the TP-Link Kasa brand switch but requires a different app. It's unclear if TP-Link is trying to migrate everything over to Tapo or will continue the Kasa brand into the future. Discontinuing Kasa would be worrying, as many users are already heavily invested into it. With advanced scheduling and timer options, I can set the switch to turn on and off automatically, whether I'm home or away. The "Away Mode" is a helpful security feature, randomly switching the lights on and off to deter intruders. These are also excellent for outdoor security lights because you can set them to turn on at dusk and off at dawn."

Slightly different color then lenovo

"This light switch works well but the color is different than lenovo which is the brand I have on majority of house switches. This wouldn't be a big deal if you have a single gang switch but I was trying to add it to a 3 gang box so it didn't really work for me there. Asside from this issue it is well designed and easy to setup. Also nice that no hub is needed. If you want a good smart dimmer that you plan to use in a 1 gang box this is a good option. If you are adding to a multi gang box be careful as thr color most likely will not match."

Looks and Works Great!

"I finally got around to installing this past weekend and am very happy with it! I replaced an old standard switch in the dining room with this dimmer. It fit in the old box no problem. My only hiccup was accidentally switching the load and line wires and it obviously would not work. Once I switched them to the correct orientation, it powered up, connected easily to the app, and worked great! I also connected it to our Alexa and tested the on/off and the dimming function and it works really well. I will probably pick more of these up for anywhere else I want a non-fan dimmer."
