Good camera

"This is a good general camera. I always use Tapo, this is a good one for a smaller single room or just small area."

Good product for the price!

"Definitely does what I need them to! Good quality picture! Love the night vision! So clear!"

Surprisingly high-quality video

"Out of the box, this camera does not inspire confidence - it's tiny, weightless plastic, not brilliantly designed (the power cord bonks into its own stand!) BUT. After setting it up, the video quality is surprisingly good. The room is unevenly lit, full of shadows in weird places, and my phone camera can't stand taking pictures in it without flash. But this little thing puts out a great video feed. So just on video quality, absolutely 5 out of 5. The camera also has a built-in speaker you can broadcast to via the app, and the speaker is very low-quality. But it's not like you're gonna be playing music over it, so it doesn't really matter. The app gets the job done, but kind of suffers from being designed for an entire Tapo "ecosystem" that I don't have. It's got pages for all sorts of other IoT devices, and this results in there being way too many menus and different settings locations if you're just using it for one lone camera. Finding a particular setting I was looking for required checking in three different settings menus. The app also heavily pushes the cloud subscription, which I am not interested in, but you can ignore it and use the camera without."

A Modern Security Camera With Simplicity And Ease Of Use

"The TP-Link Tapo C111 2K Indoor Security Camera is a small and lightweight security camera for peace of mind. This is the Black version (with C110 being the White version) and it has a small flat base that can either be used to stand by itself or with the mounting holes and hardware provided used to hang it on a wall/ceiling. After some use, some things to note: -The video quality is better than 1080p versions of security cameras as technology advances, but its not like a professional cameras 2K. There's the inclusion of infrared for night vision, and it works decently. -In the Tapo App, theres the standard features of 2-way talking, audio recording, alarms, and recording playbacks. Additionally theres a Privacy mode where you can blur/block out areas of the video, like where it may be catching somewhere where its being intrusive. The App is fast enough where lagging and loading is kept at a minimum. -Theres also the option of connecting up to 32 different cameras for a multi-surveillance viewing, which is neat considering the simplicity of setting up compared to traditional surveillance systems. -Optional subscription service, but not necessary to use the features of the camera itself. -It is a wired camera, thus there is a barrel-style power adapter that needs to be plugged in in order to run it. The charging port is in a weird location, but understandable due to the design and ball-pivot. -There is a Micro-SD card slot on the side (no card included unfortunately) for on-device recording and playback. It seems when downloading events, it first is recorded in the app on the Timeline of selected playbacks, and then gives the option to download into mobile devices Photo Gallery/storage. -There is no direct manufacturer support for viewing on PC or other systems besides through the official Tapo App, but it does have the capability for RTSP protocol support, which then you can configure to use with NVR, NAS, and other third-party systems. Overall, this is a useful security camera that is packed with many standard modern settings and features at the touch of your mobile device."

Excellent Indoor Camera with Increased Storage from C110 Model

"This review is for TP-Link New Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera for Baby Monitor, Pet Camera | Motion Detection | 2-Way Audio | Night Vision | Cloud & SD Card Storage | Works w/Alexa & Google Home | Black | Tapo C111. I have several Tapo cameras for indoors and outdoors and this one is very similar to the C110 cameras that I have now other than that it can store up to 512GB of memory on a microSD card vs the 256GB on the C110 version, plus the black color. I like these Tapo cameras because they dont require any subscription and I can use my own microSD card. It doesnt come with a microSD card so youll have to purchase one separately. The microSD card you want to use should be rated for high endurance security cameras, webcams, and dashcams, not just a regular microsSD for photography or basic mobile phone use because of the constant write and overwrite. It must also be 512GB or less in size so be aware of that. I went with SanDisk High Endurance 256GB microSDXC cards (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P4HBRMV/?th=1) and I've had no issues whatsoever since I've set up the cameras. Setup is very easy also with the Tp-Link Tapo app. It will lead you through the process. During setup make sure that you turn off any running VPN on your phone like SurfShark because it will cause the app not to find or connect to the device. Once youre done, then you can turn the VPN back on but otherwise turn it OFF or you will run into lots of issues with setting it up. I wasted a lot of time figuring this out so take my advice on this one. Other than that, I really love the wide angle on these cameras and the sharp pictures, even at night. If you set motion detection sensitivity correctly for your situation, you wont be bombarded with constant notification but its something you have to play around with to get correct. There are so many options and settings to play with and with trial and error, I got my cameras set up the way I wanted and with just enough notifications to put me at ease. This is a great doggy cam for me. Overall, a very nice camera like its predecessor, the C110, but with increased storage capacity. If you do not need this much storage or the black color, the C110 will be just fine. I would recommend it and Id give a 5.0/5.0 - 08/28/2023."

My second Tapo brand camera and I'm very happy so far

"This is my second Tapo camera and I couldn't be happier with this one so far. There are a TON of similar cameras on Amazon so why is this one so special? It all comes down to the app. I've tried a ton of cameras and a ton of apps that they use and so far I have to say the Tapo app is great. I've haven't found a flaw in the app yet and I'm very critical in the app performance if you read through some of me previous reviews of other cameras. Here are some pros of the app/camera - the app responds VERY quickly. As soon as you click to view the live footage, it loads it up instantly (unlike others that takes several seconds up to a minute). - Everything you need to control the camera is all in one screen. You don't have to jump back and forth between the camera screen, the main screen, or the settings screen just to do something simple (like viewing the recorded footage). - you can have up to 4 Tapo camera views at the same time. No more jumping around between camera screen to view the activity. Now I can see all of them at the same time. I plan on getting two more Tapo cameras just for this feature. - The app has no ads. Even when they're advertising their cloud service, it's very subtle and not constantly in your face about it. If you're not interested in the cloud service, just close the dialog box at the camera screen and it never comes up again. - The 2K image quality is not the best quality one could have in the cameras but it's a true 2K resolution (instead of a software pixel multiplier from a 720p). It's sufficient enough quality that I could read the 2 inch text on a box 20 ft away from the camera. I still need to test other features of this camera like the night vision and privacy areas, etc. I'll report back with my findings. For now I'm very happy with this camera and I highly recommend this brand."
