"Constantly disconnects and becomes unavailable, requiring you to unplug and plug it back in, only to have it disconnect again usually withing a day. I made an automation with a smart plug that would shut off and turn back on at midnight to cycle thick camera in case it disconnected, but most of the time after it powers back on, it just disconnects again. Very disappointed with this one."

Our best choice for monitoring an elder

"These cameras are working great. We use them to monitor our mom at a home nearby. We do not generally talk to her over the camera so as not to disconcert her, but we have used the chat feature to talk to a caregiver on occasion. The sound quality is quite clear and the picture is great. The night vision also works great, although we generally do not need that.We use the tapo app, which is free, with four cameras in place around the home. We do not need the paid monitoring features because we are only interested in current images, not past recordings. The pan and zoom features are helpful, and the presence of the cameras has not been disruptive. The high resolution is worth paying for and while this may provide access to our images to someone in China, this is not of interest or concern to us or to them. This has been a great resource to complement on site caregiving, as our five minute response time from around the corner is better than we could expect in any assisted living situation."
