Love this Tapo cam! This will be a great camera to pick up strangers and also identify familiars.

"Another awesome camer to add to my home security system. This one I mounted right above the front door, and although the doorbell catches most of what we need to see, it does miss some faces which we have our hub analyze for familiars and strangers. I am hoping this will be better at picking up the strangers. There seemed to be no lag, the setup was very easy, and it had great motion detection and functionality. Just love it! The camera is top quality and in my opinion one of the best out there."

Solid build and good wireless option

"Very good security camera. I installed it at the entrance of my house and so far it is working really well. Before using it, I made sure to fully charge it so I could get the most out of it from the start. I think the build quality of the product is absolutely top notch, but I am a bit unsure about the camera resolution. Do not get me wrong it is good, but for the price I expected it to be a little better. Still, it is definitely a great option if you�re looking to stay away from messy cables."

Great little camera

"This is an absolutely excellent camera. I already have the Tapo app for some other smart home devices and setup was a breeze. Having the Micro SD Card installed is excellent I really prefer having local storage on security devices vs completely cloud based as you can export any events and store much easier. You also reduce the amount of potential artifacts from the transfer to the cloud. Any sound picked up is clear and easily understood. Setup was a breeze and very straightforward. Motion detection is great and very sensitive but can be adjusted to your needs. Overall, for the price this is an absolutely wonderful little addition to any home monitoring system"

NEEDS A HUB

"This is my fourth Tapo camera and I never had any issues with the other ones, when trying to install this C400 security camera says that a hub is needed to install it and nowhere when I bought it said it needed one, I’m going to return it because I don't want to spend another $40 on a hub"

"This is a great camera! Motion detection was precise and the picture is clear, even with night vision. The setup was easy and connected quickly to my phone. My only complaint is I cannot figure out how to delete the unnecessary videos. More research is required!"

"I have about twelve Tapo cameras installed throughout my house, each serving a critical and essential role in my security setup. This Tapo C400 battery-operated model is my first eye-level camera, offering a unique perspective. However, due to its exposed position, it is somewhat vulnerable to theft, so I have supplemented it with three additional wired cameras for added protection, covering this camera. This C400 model boasts several impressive features, including the ability to offload video storage to a H200 hub, which provides 512GB of shared storage. With scheduled event recording, this capacity is sufficient to cover a full month of recordings, especially since it is a 1080p resolution camera. Unlike my 2K or 3K cameras, which produce larger file sizes due to their higher resolution, the C400 strikes a balance between quality and storage efficiency. Another standout feature is its WiFi connectivity, a step up from the sub-gigahertz communication used in the C420 (of which I own four). To ensure optimal performance, I have paired this camera with an Omada EAP110 outdoor access point located about 15 feet away. For a 1080p camera, the video quality is exceptional, delivering clear and detailed footage. The motion detection system includes a handy testing feature that provides audio and visual feedback, allowing me to fine-tune the sensitivity level or detection range to my exact needs. I simply walk along the desired detection path, confirming that the camera activates only where intended and remains inactive elsewhere. The sensitivity scale ranges from 1 (nearest/shortest) to 10 (furthest), and after adjustments, I have set mine to 6, perfectly aligning with my requirements. The price of this battery-operated WiFi camera is also a major plus. My C420 kit, which included two cameras, cost over $125, while this C400 is a steal at just $50�making thisa true bargain in comparison. Regarding battery life, with scheduled recording and a defined detection zone, I expect it to last at least 100 days based on my experience with the C420 (advertised up to 180 days). If this changes, I will update this review accordingly. Overall, I�m highly satisfied with this recently introduced Tapo C400 battery-operated WiFi 1080p security camera, launched a few months ago. Its build quality is excellent, the feature set is comprehensive, and the support from Tapo is top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a reliable battery-operated WiFi security camera. In fact, I�d even suggest exploring Tapo�s entire smart home lineup, from door sensors to smart cameras. My bias might show, given that I rely on over 50 Tapo smart home devices across multiple locations, especially for those looking to replace Wyze cameras and smart home systems."

Solid camera with great features for the price

"I have been using the Tapo C400 for a few weeks now and overall, I am really happy with it. Setup was pretty straightforward, and the video quality (even at night) is impressive for a 1080p cam. Love the color night vision and the option for local SD card storage or cloud storage which makes it a better value for the money than others I have tried before. So far it has pretty decent battery life, although I do wish the battery were removable. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the app can be a little laggy at times, and the SD card storage options could be a bit more reliable. But for the price, it�s hard to beat. Great option for homeowners looking for easy, wireless security."
