superb online chat help
"I had a lengthy chat with Glenn today. We tried many ways to resolve the issue with my tapo c720. Many thanks Glenn!"
Tapo and eufy interoperability
"How well does this Tapo Floodlight camera work/compare with the eufy products in general, and in particular, the E340 Floodlight camera and the home base S380 (can I store video to it)."
Great outdoor camera
"Great outdoor camera. It was easy to install and work great. I hope that TP-Link will make a black model available as I need an other one for a dark place."
Magnifique!
"Picture quality is absolutely gorgeous in 2K and the flood lights are incredibly bright, Ill have to post a night shot later but the AI detection features really stop false alarms with my notifications because I know motion events are probably dust, but the person and pet detection makes me smile ear to ear every time I see it! Installation was also easy, no need for wire nuts unless your box is used to splice other lights but mine was controlled by a switch. The camera can also switch to 720p for more fluid video feeds when in remote locations trying to view them. I dont have an SD card but I was able to set these up via ONVIF protocol to record directly to my GW Security 8 channel NVR system. I am absolutely satisfied with this product. TP Link has got it figured out!"
Top Notch Quality and Performance
"One of the first things that stood out about this floodlight was the quality of the night vision and how well the lighting worked and the amount of area it covered. I really liked how well the AI detection and how sensitive the motion was. The installation and setup was pretty easy to do and the quality of the overall floodlight is very good and I love how it looks on my carport. Im really impressed with how well it works and how I can monitor the front of my house with the Live view and the quality is so good."
Camera Great, Installation a Challenge
"I really needed a security camera for my driveway area and thought this Tapo camera with a light combo would be great. This is a really nice quality (not cheap looking) camera/floodlight combo. Considering that you could replace your floodlight with this and have a security camera using the same power source, this is a really nice value. This can be mounted on the side of a wall or under the eaves/soffit. I believe that this better designed for mounting on the side of the wall since it was really challenging for me to install under the eaves. My first thought was that it would be really easy installation since you can mount a lightweight bracket which is powered as sort of an outlet which you can plug the camera portion into. However, lining up the positioning rods, the power plug and mounting screws at the same time and getting it right without dropping the screws is pretty much impossible and quite frustrating. So I just removed the plug from the bracket and plugged directly into the camera. Then, because the mounting screws are so short and hard to align, I drilled out the screw threads on the bracket, put plastic anchors in them, and used longer wood screws to more easily mount the camera. This was by far the hardest part of the camera setup. After the mounting process, everything else was super easy and the camera paired perfectly with my phone and WiFi. After the initial setup everything was triggering the camera and alerts were non-stop until I figured how boundaries and other particulars can be set to keep things like tree movement and flags from setting off the camera. I set a box of area which when entered would trigger the camera and alerts and this has worked great. The picture is very clear and covers a wide area. You can put a micro sd card up to 512 gigabytes to record events and use without a subscription. The camera comes with a free 30 day trial of cloud storage and monitoring with alerts. Im using that now so I dont know yet how using the sd card alone will be. I am really happy with this camera and Im planning to get more stand alone cameras for other areas around my house. I definitely recommend this camera."
Great floodlight for Home Assistant
"4.5 Stars Pros: Brightness: The floodlights are very bright and dimmable, providing excellent illumination where needed. Camera Quality: The camera delivers clear, sharp images in 2K HD resolution. Integration: With the latest firmware update (1.4.4), integration with Home Assistant is seamless and local, avoiding cloud dependency. It works well with both the Tapo app and Home Assistant. Cons: Installation Challenges: The product does not include a round weatherproof gasket, leaving a small 1/8 inch gap between the plastic back plate and the wall. This gap could potentially lead to water ingress or instability. The design with only one central screw makes the fixture feel unstable as it can rotate on the wall. Finding the correct size weatherproof gasket was problematic; the required 5.5-inch gasket isn't commonly available, whereas 4-inch ones are for round junction boxes. I had to modify an existing 6-inch gasket from the old floodlight I just removed. Overall: Despite the installation issues, the performance of the device is commendable, especially when compared to less reliable alternatives like my previous Google product. This led me to rate it 4.5 stars, which I've rounded up to 5 for its functionality and integration."
My wife wants another one
"My 1st camera, and glad I went with this combo floodlight/camera. Lots of functions and flexible configuration. Works with my Google hub displays, but not with the home up. Only downside is it be nice being able to capture motion events in Google home routines."
Better than Google Nest
"I bought the Tapo products off Black Friday. I figured: at that price how can you go wrong? I was right. First off, the setup is quick and easy. Download the app, follow the guides to install the camera and off you go. The app is not always intuitive though so you might have to fiddle with it to get it dialed in just how you want. Once you do though, it's pretty seamless. I had the Nest products before this and between the reliability issues and app non-compatability, this is by far better. I gave it four stars instead of five for two reasons. 1) The app could use a bit of tweaking and 2) I'd prefer it if I could go back and review footage from when there wasn't an alert (which Google does have an edge on them for). Other than those two relatively minor points though, I'm very happy with it thus far."
